I think this game is fine for children 10 & up.
young kids who post pictures of what they do to in the game and mom and dad have no clue. hashtag #sims3 #simsposes #poseplayer or something like that and you will see what I mean.
And if you think 'oh it's just older people like you doing that stuff', spend just ten seconds on instagram. please be advised that I guarantee you your kid won't play it that way. So bottom line is that the sims 3 as it comes is very kid friendly, but please. Kids use programs like Blender and Milksphape to come up with their own poses, some which are very mature.

These mods let you pose your sim in positions that didn't come standard in the game. Last, the most common (and shocking) are pose mods. There are mods for clothing and cool hairstyles that don't originally come with the game(more provocative or maybe just a t-shirt that says something obscene. There are mods where you can add 'objects' that look like drugs. There are mods that your sims to be completely nude(showing private parts). So mom and dad buy a 'child friendly' game, but once little susie is done downloading different mods from the internet, that game turns into a 'Mature game'. Mods (modifications) are what change the game and it's features. Something that is really huge with people who play sims (some as young as 8 and 9) are Mods. 'ooo it's just some boring un-eventful virtual dollhouse of sorts.'So let me provide some information about 'the real sims 3'. I mention all of this because I get the impression that people who are writing reviews for the game don't actually know a thing about it. I am such a huge fan that I changed my college to animation so I can one day be apart of the development of future sim games. I am a twenty-something who has been playing the sims since it was released in 2001.
